I am one of the few dually licensed clinical psychologists and licensed school psychologists in the state of Illinois. I specialize in helping families with students who experience struggle in their educational setting. Many families seek to understand the difference between how the medical field views a given disability and the schools’ “educational relevance” concept of a disability. I provide objective (i.e., third party) clinical assessment of a student’s needs. Testing conducted by non-school professionals often does not yield results that are meaningful in devising a school related plan of intervention. I also provide review of educational assessment and Individualized Education Plans (IEP), consultation and collaboration with school staff, and advocacy services. I am available for in-office consultation and can accompany you to school meetings as well. As a parent myself, I understand wanting to be sure your child has been correctly identified and is receiving all services he or she is entitled to. Many times, parents just aren’t sure what their rights are, don’t know the right words to use, or don’t understand what services are appropriate for the school to provide. I can help.
School Based Services include:
- Psychoeducational Testing (to help inform educational planning or for accommodations on college entrance examinations)
- In Office Consultation
- Attendance at IEP/504/Team Meetings
- Consultation and Collaboration with School Staff
- Functional Behavioral Assessment/ Behavior Intervention Planning
- Vocational Assessment and Transition Planning
- Executive Function Coaching
Additionally, my work in the intersection of school and clinical psychology has prepared me to understand the systemic issues that operate in larger organizations, particularly when working with an individual with special needs. Hence, I am available to organizations for consultation and/or to provide educational seminars on issues pertinent to mental health. I have provided such seminars to community churches, PTA organizations, private schools, public schools, professional associations, and medical offices. Contact me for additional information.
